Effects of Protected Fat on Plasma Concentrations of Cholesterol and Progesterone in Lactating Dairy Cows
نویسندگان
چکیده
Concentrations of total cholesterol and progesterone were measured in early lactating dairy cows fed either a control diet or a diet containing a protected fat (1.8% on a OM basis) between weeks 4 and 12 post pactum. All cows were fed the control diet from parturition to week 4 post partum. Plasma samples were collected twice weekly. Plasma total cholesterol and progesterone were greater in cows fed protected fat than in cows fed the control diet.

Effects of dietary polyunsaturated fatty acids on ovarian function and prostaglandin secretion in lactating dairy cows
As lactating cows in severe negative energy balance have poor reproductive performance, the effect of dietary fat supplementation (fish oil, soybean oil) on PGFM secretion, ovarian function and blood metabolites is investigated. In this experiment, the effects of dietary polyunsaturated fatty acids on plasma metabolites, ovarian function and prostaglandin secretion of 20 primiparous Holstein co...
متن کاملEffects of Feeding Rumen Protected Choline and Vitamin E on Milk Yield, Milk Composition, Dry Matter Intake, BodyCondition Score and Body Weight in Early Lactating Dairy Cows
Twenty four primiparous and multiparous Holstein cows on early lactation, beginning five weeks postpartum, were used for four weeks to investigate the effects of supplemention of rumen-protected choline (RPC) or vitamin E on milk yield, milk composition, dry matter intake, body condition score and body weight. The cows were randomly assigned to one of the following treatments: I)no supplement (...
متن کاملThe Relationships Between Milk Production and Some Blood Metabolites and Their Effects on Returning to Estrus in Lactating Holstein Dairy Cows
In this study, the relationships and correlations between milk production and some blood metabolites related to energy and protein balance and their effects were investigated on returning to estrus after AI in lactating Holstein dairy cows. Blood and milk samples were collected from sixty lactating Holstein dairy cows based on their reproductive status in 13-17 d post AI. BUN, MUN, glucose, tri...
متن کاملEffect of Feeding of Various Types of Soybean Meal and Differently Processed Barley Grain on Performance of High Producing Lactating Holstein Dairy Cows
Twenty-four lactating Holstein dairy cows were used in a completely randomized design to investigate the effect of soybean meal (SM) and xylose protected soybean meal (XSM) in combination with ground (GB) or steam flaked (FB) barley on dry matter intake, milk production, rumen fermentation and blood responses. The experimental period lasted for 30 days. The diets consisted of the provision of 1...

The objective of this study was to determine the effect of different levels of sesame wastes (SW) on performance, milk composition and blood metabolites in lactating dairy cows. In this order, eight multiparous Holstein dairy cows were used in a replicated 4×4 Latin square design in four periods of 21 days. Treatments were control (no Sesame meal supplementat...
